Paper Plate Pals
The students chose a realistic fiction book to read. When they finished their books, they had to design a paper plate to show the main character from the story. Then, they attached cards to give information about the book, the main character, and setting. Finally, they told us about their favorite part of the story.

Problem Solving in Math
Do you have a garden at home? We talked about how gardens are planted in rows. We have 5 tomato plants, 6 pepper plants, 7 onion plants, and 6 corn plants. If we want to plant the same number of plants in each row, how many rows could we have? The students used square tiles to figure out different solutions and recorded them on paper. We found many different ways to plant our garden. This lead to a great discussion with multiplication. Ask your child to explain how they solved the problem!
