When Suzy Kline visited, she had the teachers act out a chapter of Herbie Jones.  We also performed our own reader's theater plays in our class.

Suzy Kline Visits Wheelock

We enjoyed a wonderful visit with Suzy Kline and she told us about the seeds for her stories.  The CSA provided the students with a mini notebook so they can record their ideas.  Thanks, CSA! How many Horrible Harry books have you read?  Which one is your favorite?

Learning to Code

The students created code to make characters move. It was exciting watching them problem solve with their peers to get their code to work correctly. We used a free app called Scratch Jr.  If you have older kids, you could try another app called Hopscotch.

Read Across America Readathon

These super readers raced across the United States. They came in 1st place and won $10 gift certificates to Park Street Books. Wow!

The students read for 17, 624 minutes.  Do you know how many hours that is?

Spring Fling

What simple machine is used to make a catapult? You guessed it...a lever!  Students designed catapults to launch a marshmallow for our 10th Annual Spring Fling.  They used different materials to make some amazing catapults.
Check out our awesome designs!

Look at the mouse traps, plastic spoons, and Popsicle sticks used in their designs.

The energy source comes from all of those heavy duty rubber bands!

Colonial Life

We have been learning about Puritans, colonial villages, schools, and trades.  Monday is Patriots' Day. Go to Lexington and Concord to see some local events this weekend at Minute Man National Historical Park!
